1920's Whole Cloth Quilt
These are always
fun quilts to find! Known as Cheater Cloth, the cotton fabric
actually had quilt-type designs, so you could just sew up a couple
of panels and have what looked like a quilt! This 1920's quilt, with
an 1890's back, was made with two 35" wide panels, measures 74" x
72", has a thin cotton batting, a wild floral & stripe machine
applied binding, and 2 black & white prints for the back. This quilt
was tied with white and pink cotton yarns. In "as found" condition,
we find no stains or odors, but a couple splits in the early 1890's
backing fabric. This quilt would be
easy to "un-do" so that the fabric could be used in other quilt
projects! |
